Last Wednesday, over 150 of our incredible musicians took us on a musical world tour for the TSIS Spring Concert! ✈️🎻

With our ‘World Cup’ theme, our ensembles tackled a massive repertoire featuring composers from every corner of the globe. From the first whistle to the final encore, the energy was electric!

All that “pre-season” training in rehearsals truly paid off. A huge shoutout to the parents, staff, and students who filled the stands to cheer us on—your support is the “12th man” our performers need!

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting your musical journey, we want YOU in our clubs and concerts. Don’t sit on the sidelines—drop by the Music Department to find your spot in the lineup! 🎶✨

Family Bauhinia officially raised the roof this week! From soulful piano and saxophone riffs to a rock band that nearly blew the speakers, our musicians brought the house down. The energy stayed high with electric street dance and pro-level yoyo act that defied the laws of physics with some seriously elite tricks.

The “mind-blowing” award goes to our specialists: a flawless recital of 200 digits of Pi and two students solving Rubik’s cubes one-handed with impossible speed. Whether shredding on a guitar or speed-cubing under pressure, our performers proved that Bauhinia has some serious range.

Huge props to everyone who stepped into the spotlight—you made us incredibly proud! 🌟🎤🎸

We are bursting with pride to share that South Island School Alumna, Sa’diyya Nesar, has been honored with the prestigious Lion Rock People’s Choice Award at the Spirit of Hong Kong Awards. This award, decided by public vote, recognizes individuals who embody the resilient “can-do” spirit of Hong Kong.

As a celebrated author, TEDx speaker, and advocate, Sa’diyya has spent years turning personal adversity into a powerful platform for inclusion and empathy. Born with a rare congenital muscle condition called Myopathy, Sa’diyya’s journey is one of incredible perseverance, navigating the physical challenges of her disability with a grace that has inspired many both within and beyond our school gates.
Reflecting on her time at SIS, Sa’diyya shared a moving message with our current student body:

“Stay focused on your goals by moving forward. I walked from class to class as a student at SIS, despite muscle weaknesses, and the fear of falling. What kept me going was the dream of writing books, and the trust that my parents, teachers, and peers believed in me. Sometimes we do not realize how deeply others believe in us. Sometimes we may even face discouragements, or different forms of biases, but remember that there are always those who see our potential.

Your role is to keep discovering your passions and to try your best. Trust that your efforts will bear fruit. It may take months, years, or even decades, but those fruits do emerge. Rise with grace. Your efforts are never wasted, and there will always be doors meant for you to push open.”

Today, Sa’diyya is the author of Hearts that Remember and Strength from Within. Her work continues to break barriers in disability, advocacy and interfaith harmony. Congratulations, Sa’diyya! You are a true embodiment of the SIS spirit.

Innovation XIX: A New Renaissance just hit the runway and the vibes were unmatched. From intricate lace to bold streetwear, South Island School just redefined the “old world.” 🏛️🔥

The roar of the drums took over the campus for our annual Lunar New Year Lion Dance Performance! 🦁🥁

Hosted by the SIS PTA, the performance brought an incredible energy to the lower playground as students from Year 7 to 13 gathered to witness the tradition. The excitement spread throughout the school as the lions paraded through the building hallways, with older students lining the corridors to catch a glimpse of the action.

Beyond the main performance, the lions visited and blessed various locations across the school to bring good fortune and prosperity to the entire SIS community for the year ahead. A huge thank you to the PTA for organizing such a vibrant celebration of culture and craftsmanship! 🧧✨

SIS annual charity fashion show INNOVATION XIX is back!

This year’s show, Constructing Style: A New Renaissance, challenges designers to reimagine fashion from the ground up - think beyond trends, break conventions and construct something new. From Year 9 students to teaching staff, we have a diverse line of designers this year that showcases creativity without boundaries. For the six months, we’ve been working hard with our designers to help bring their visions to life, from early sketches ✏️, to materials sourcing, measuring, ✂️ cutting, final fittings and 📸 photoshoots, this year’s show is a love letter to fashion 💌 and innovation.

This year, we are choosing to sponsor Redress, a local organisation dedicated to addressing the environmental impact ♻️ of the textiles industry through both educational and circular fashion initiatives. All profits from tickets sold at Innovation will support sustainable fashion, as a team we believe style and fashion is about looking good and doing good.

We invite all creatives - future designers, models, photographers, parents and friends to join us for an unforgettable celebration of the creative efforts and talent of our student body in an evening where artistry and craftsmanship takes center stage!

Student Achievements of the Week” celebrates the diverse talents and hard work of the South Island School community.

Katniss (Y7) came Runner-up in the Hong Kong skateboarding open competition took place in Fanling Skatepark, 25 January 2026.

Andre, Anton, Declan, Liam, Xander & Ronni played a pivotal role and won the HK China Rugby Youth U12 Boys League and the Grand Final

Aidan, Chester & Alyssa participated in the community mural event at the Harmony Manor Services Center in Shatin organised by the Rotary Club of Buttery Valley

Blake (Y8) participated in the Hong Kong China Swimming Association Age Group Division 1 Short Course Competition and brought home three gold medals in the 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, and 200m Individual Medley, plus a strong SILVER in the 100m Backstroke

Warrick (Y8) Performed his fourth consecutive performance at Rocktone Music School’s annual concert

Chloe (Y9) who recently represented Hong Kong on the world stage at the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship in Doha Chloe followed this international success by dominating the HKSAR Junior Championship (3rd-4th Jan). Competing in the U14 category, she secured 6 wins out of 7 matches to be crowned the Overall National Champion.

Hilary (Y12) represented South Island School by participating in the 62nd School Dance Festival for the category of “Jazz / Street Dance (Secondary Section)” and received an Honours Award.

Royden (Y9) and Kayley (Y7) have been selected for the Development Squad of the Ski Association of Hong Kong, China (SAHK).

We are bursting with pride to share that South Island School Alumna, Sa’diyya Nesar, has been honored with the prestigious Lion Rock People’s Choice Award at the Spirit of Hong Kong Awards. This award, decided by public vote, recognizes individuals who embody the resilient “can-do” spirit of Hong Kong.

As a celebrated author, TEDx speaker, and advocate, Sa’diyya has spent years turning personal adversity into a powerful platform for inclusion and empathy. Born with a rare congenital muscle condition called Myopathy, Sa’diyya’s journey is one of incredible perseverance, navigating the physical challenges of her disability with a grace that has inspired many both within and beyond our school gates.
Reflecting on her time at SIS, Sa’diyya shared a moving message with our current student body:

“Stay focused on your goals by moving forward. I walked from class to class as a student at SIS, despite muscle weaknesses, and the fear of falling. What kept me going was the dream of writing books, and the trust that my parents, teachers, and peers believed in me. Sometimes we do not realize how deeply others believe in us. Sometimes we may even face discouragements, or different forms of biases, but remember that there are always those who see our potential.

Your role is to keep discovering your passions and to try your best. Trust that your efforts will bear fruit. It may take months, years, or even decades, but those fruits do emerge. Rise with grace. Your efforts are never wasted, and there will always be doors meant for you to push open.”

Today, Sa’diyya is the author of Hearts that Remember and Strength from Within. Her work continues to break barriers in disability, advocacy and interfaith harmony. Congratulations, Sa’diyya! You are a true embodiment of the SIS spirit.

Innovation XIX: A New Renaissance just hit the runway and the vibes were unmatched. From intricate lace to bold streetwear, South Island School just redefined the “old world.” 🏛️🔥

A massive shoutout to the Innovation XIX Head Team for their flawless leadership, and a huge thank you to our teacher helpers and student volunteers. From backstage logistics to front-of-house magic, this success belongs to all of you! 👏

The roar of the drums took over the campus for our annual Lunar New Year Lion Dance Performance! 🦁🥁

Hosted by the SIS PTA, the performance brought an incredible energy to the lower playground as students from Year 7 to 13 gathered to witness the tradition. The excitement spread throughout the school as the lions paraded through the building hallways, with older students lining the corridors to catch a glimpse of the action.

Beyond the main performance, the lions visited and blessed various locations across the school to bring good fortune and prosperity to the entire SIS community for the year ahead. A huge thank you to the PTA for organizing such a vibrant celebration of culture and craftsmanship! 🧧✨

SIS annual charity fashion show INNOVATION XIX is back!

This year’s show, Constructing Style: A New Renaissance, challenges designers to reimagine fashion from the ground up - think beyond trends, break conventions and construct something new. From Year 9 students to teaching staff, we have a diverse line of designers this year that showcases creativity without boundaries. For the six months, we’ve been working hard with our designers to help bring their visions to life, from early sketches ✏️, to materials sourcing, measuring, ✂️ cutting, final fittings and 📸 photoshoots, this year’s show is a love letter to fashion 💌 and innovation.

This year, we are choosing to sponsor Redress, a local organisation dedicated to addressing the environmental impact ♻️ of the textiles industry through both educational and circular fashion initiatives. All profits from tickets sold at Innovation will support sustainable fashion, as a team we believe style and fashion is about looking good and doing good.

We invite all creatives - future designers, models, photographers, parents and friends to join us for an unforgettable celebration of the creative efforts and talent of our student body in an evening where artistry and craftsmanship takes center stage!

Katniss (Y7) came Runner-up in the Hong Kong skateboarding open competition took place in Fanling Skatepark, 25 January 2026.

Andre, Anton, Declan, Liam, Xander & Ronni played a pivotal role and won the HK China Rugby Youth U12 Boys League and the Grand Final

Aidan, Chester & Alyssa participated in the community mural event at the Harmony Manor Services Center in Shatin organised by the Rotary Club of Buttery Valley

Blake (Y8) participated in the Hong Kong China Swimming Association Age Group Division 1 Short Course Competition and brought home three gold medals in the 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, and 200m Individual Medley, plus a strong SILVER in the 100m Backstroke

Warrick (Y8) Performed his fourth consecutive performance at Rocktone Music School’s annual concert

Chloe (Y9) who recently represented Hong Kong on the world stage at the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship in Doha Chloe followed this international success by dominating the HKSAR Junior Championship (3rd-4th Jan). Competing in the U14 category, she secured 6 wins out of 7 matches to be crowned the Overall National Champion.

Hilary (Y12) represented South Island School by participating in the 62nd School Dance Festival for the category of “Jazz / Street Dance (Secondary Section)” and received an Honours Award.

Royden (Y9) and Kayley (Y7) have been selected for the Development Squad of the Ski Association of Hong Kong, China (SAHK).

Last Wednesday, over 150 of our incredible musicians took us on a musical world tour for the TSIS Spring Concert! ✈️🎻

With our ‘World Cup’ theme, our ensembles tackled a massive repertoire featuring composers from every corner of the globe. From the first whistle to the final encore, the energy was electric!

All that “pre-season” training in rehearsals truly paid off. A huge shoutout to the parents, staff, and students who filled the stands to cheer us on—your support is the “12th man” our performers need!

Family Bauhinia officially raised the roof this week! From soulful piano and saxophone riffs to a rock band that nearly blew the speakers, our musicians brought the house down. The energy stayed high with electric street dance and pro-level yoyo act that defied the laws of physics with some seriously elite tricks.

The “mind-blowing” award goes to our specialists: a flawless recital of 200 digits of Pi and two students solving Rubik’s cubes one-handed with impossible speed. Whether shredding on a guitar or speed-cubing under pressure, our performers proved that Bauhinia has some serious range.

Huge props to everyone who stepped into the spotlight—you made us incredibly proud! 🌟🎤🎸

Hilary (Y12) represented South Island School by participating in the 62nd School Dance Festival for the category of “Jazz / Street Dance (Secondary Section)” and received an Honours Award.

Royden (Y9) and Kayley (Y7) have been selected for the Development Squad of the Ski Association of Hong Kong, China (SAHK).
