My time at SIS has been a memorable one. Whether I was learning in class, hanging around my tutor room during break, or even going on field trips outside of school, being around my cohort and teachers ensured that my dull experiences were far and few in-betwwen. SIS has been responsible for a wonderful and irreplaceable 7 years of my life, memories which will stay with me for many more years to come; and I hope that everyone else who graduates from this school will be capable of willingly and wholeheartedly saying the same thing.

6 years in SIS has been a blast. The South Island has given me many memories that I will treasure deeply for the rest of my life... B-ball, AYP, pedal kart, Friday football... I would like to say a BIG thank you to my family, friends and all the teachers especially to Mr Moore. I'm truly grateful. It has been a long, tough ride and I couldn't have made it through without any of YOU.

Words cannot express my appreciation to the people that have had an impact on me during my 7 years here at SIS. I would like to pay tribute to my teachers who realize that life is like a football match; I will never progress in life if I am unwilling to take chances and accept my failures as constructive lessons. Reflecting on my experiences at SIS, it will equip me well for any obstacles I encounter in the future.

What's New at SIS?

It was an immense privilege for South Island School to host the Hong Kong UN Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony, on behalf of The Hong Kong Holocaust and Tolerance Centre. We welcomed many Consul Generals, government representatives, teachers and students from across Hong Kong to the event.

27th January is World Holocaust Memorial Day which honours the memory of the six million Jewish people and other groups murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators between 1933 and 1945.

We were honoured to listen to Ms Larisa Cain, a 93-year-old survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto. Larisa travelled from her home in Paris to share her story at the event. This was an invaluable and rare opportunity to listen first hand to someone who survived this traumatic period in history. By remembering the Holocaust, we are showing a commitment to counter antisemitism and all forms of racism and intolerance.

The SIS student musical performances were deeply moving. It was inspiring that so many students from schools across Hong Kong took part. The South Island Prefects who helped at the event are a credit to our school and we are grateful for their leadership.

This year’s Christmas Assembly was a journey to remember, centered around a clever and well-crafted “Polar Express” theme. The Head Prefect Team did a fantastic job guiding the entire show with a witty script that tied all our performances together perfectly.

The stage was filled with talent, featuring high-energy band sets and several acoustic duets. We also looked ahead to future events with a short model runway show for Innovation 2026 and a creative skit introducing International Evening, our annual celebration of talent from across the school.

A show of this scale is a massive team effort. A special shoutout goes to the Head Prefect Team for their leadership and the backstage crew, lighting, and sound technicians for their expertise. We also want to thank all our performers and the many student volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the assembly a success.

It was wonderful to see so much creativity and teamwork on display as we wrapped up the term together.

Our Christmas Concert was a sincere display of the hard work and talent of our student musicians. It was a pleasant evening spent listening to a variety of performances that brought a sense of grace to the stage.

The Orchestra opened the program with a thoughtful performance, followed by the Band’s precise take on traditional holiday arrangements. Throughout the show, we also enjoyed familiar Christmas jingles played on various instruments, adding a nice touch of nostalgia to the air.

We are very proud of our performers for putting together such a polished event. Thank you to everyone who attended and shared in this evening of music with us.

A huge welcome to the Year 6 students from Bradbury and Quarry Bay School who joined us this week for Y6 Tasters! 🏫 Our visiting students dived headfirst into life at South Island School, starting their day with an energetic morning assembly packed with fun activities to kick off the excitement.

Throughout the event, they explored our campus and attended a variety of classes across different subjects and disciplines, giving them a real feel for the academic journey ahead. 📚 They also got active in PE and enjoyed refueling with delicious food from our refectory and cafes, catching a glimpse of daily life during break times. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm from our visitors, and we look forward to supporting these students as they continue their journey toward high school! 🌟
