Dear SIS Community,

We are deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in the Wang Fuk Court Community, Tai Po. Our thoughts and sympathies are with those who were injured and those who have suffered loss. As our NightFest is scheduled for tonight, we recognise the importance of demonstrating solidarity and support during this difficult time.

This year, the NightFest will focus on dedicating our efforts to community relief. Tonight offers an opportunity to channel our collective concern into tangible assistance.

South Island School (SIS) and the SIS Parent Teacher Association(PTA) have pledged to make a donation from the proceeds of NightFest to an appropriate charity which will support those affected by the fire in Tai Po. These funds will be directed solely to organisations endorsed by the HKSAR Government. They will utilise these resources to provide direct aid and necessary support to the families impacted by the fire and to assist in the healing of the Tai Po community.

We sincerely invite every member of our community to join us in this act of collective care. Let us use our collective compassion to support each other and make a difference in the lives of those affected.

We were honored to host the brilliant tech journalist and author, Karen Hao, who shared crucial insights from her groundbreaking new book, The Empire of AI. Karen sparked a necessary, campus-wide conversation, structuring the day into two vital sessions.

First, our students participated in a dynamic, tailored session, confronting the algorithms that will shape their future.

Later, we welcomed our parent community for a special evening session, providing them with essential perspective on how this ‘AI Empire’ is already reshaping education and the world their children will inherit.

Last Friday proved to be a productive and engaging day for our senior students at South Island School, with dedicated programmes focusing on both holistic development and future planning.

Year 12-13 Wellbeing Activities:

Our Y12-13 students embraced a day dedicated to fostering their mental and physical well-being. The programme offered a wide variety of activities designed to encourage creativity, connection, and mindful engagement. These included:

- Energetic options, such as Brazilian Samba Drumming.

- Restorative sessions, like guided breathing, yoga, and sound bowls.

- Creative outlets, including Art Jamming.
A range of other sessions focusing on laughter, relaxation, and positive mental health.

Year 10 Careers Day:
Meanwhile, our Y10 cohort spent the day exploring potential future possibilities. The Careers Day featured insightful talks from a range of professional representatives, offering students a valuable opportunity to:

Last Friday proved to be a productive and engaging day for our senior students at South Island School, with dedicated programmes focusing on both holistic development and future planning.

Year 12-13 Wellbeing Activities:

Our Y12-13 students embraced a day dedicated to fostering their mental and physical well-being. The programme offered a wide variety of activities designed to encourage creativity, connection, and mindful engagement. These included:

- Energetic options, such as Brazilian Samba Drumming.

- Restorative sessions, like guided breathing, yoga, and sound bowls.

- Creative outlets, including Art Jamming.
A range of other sessions focusing on laughter, relaxation, and positive mental health.

Meanwhile, our Y10 cohort spent the day exploring potential future possibilities. The Careers Day featured insightful talks from a range of professional representatives, offering students a valuable opportunity to:

Our senior students truly rose to the occasion during their overseas expeditions to Sri Lanka, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, and Vietnam. This wasn’t just a trip; it was an intensive week of leadership, service, and profound cultural exchange, expertly guided by our dedicated teacher leaders.

From tackling complex community projects and engaging in meaningful dialogues to immersing themselves in diverse traditions, our Year 12s demonstrated exceptional maturity and commitment. They deepened their understanding of global challenges and contributed significantly, leaving a positive footprint in every location.

Dear SIS Community,

We are deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in the Wang Fuk Court Community, Tai Po. Our thoughts and sympathies are with those who were injured and those who have suffered loss. As our NightFest is scheduled for tonight, we recognise the importance of demonstrating solidarity and support during this difficult time.

This year, the NightFest will focus on dedicating our efforts to community relief. Tonight offers an opportunity to channel our collective concern into tangible assistance.

South Island School (SIS) and the SIS Parent Teacher Association(PTA) have pledged to make a donation from the proceeds of NightFest to an appropriate charity which will support those affected by the fire in Tai Po. These funds will be directed solely to organisations endorsed by the HKSAR Government. They will utilise these resources to provide direct aid and necessary support to the families impacted by the fire and to assist in the healing of the Tai Po community.

We sincerely invite every member of our community to join us in this act of collective care. Let us use our collective compassion to support each other and make a difference in the lives of those affected.
